Three on-going "holiday baskets" projects provide service to women and girls in our local community. In December, we will assist a family (or families) who would otherwise not receive Christmas gifts. We are fortunate to have a member active on the local womens’ shelter board who knows mothers and children just leaving the shelter and re-starting life on their own. Also, we have other contacts through nursing, social services, etc. so we are able to find families who truly need assistance. Club members donate gifts. Money is set aside in the service budget for this project, and for holiday baskets given at Easter and 4th of July. Our $7,000 Projects and Services budget for the 2007-2008 year also provides support for Camp Fire USA, community counseling, local camperships, family services and other local groups. |
