SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of BURLINGAME-SAN MATEO/MID-PENINSULA
CELEBRATE SATURDAY of SERVICE 2007

This year SI Burlingame-San Mateo-Mid Peninsula's SOS project will be painting for the Women's Recovery Association. There are six rooms; something so simple will make all the difference in the world to these women who are trying to rebuild their lives after substance abuse. The Women's Recovery Association is headquartered in Burlingame. Their mission is to assist women, adolescent girls, and their families in recovering from alcohol and chemical dependency. This is done with sensitivity, dignity, and respect. WRA provides a range of services designed to support long term recovery to women from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Their vision statement says it all "Restoring lives..one woman at a time."

SATURDAY of SERVICE 2006
SI Burlingame-San Mateo/Mid-Peninsula spent their Saturday of Service at the Coyote Point Museum, located just off 101 in San Mateo. This learning center inspires people to make a commitment in caring for the environment. They provide an educational experience for all ages through wildlife, gardens , exhibitions, and programs that relate to global environment. Our job was to copy, arrange, sew and collage pieces of fabric representing a forest scene. At the end of the day patience prevailed. When completed we carried the very large finished product into the back of the museum, laid it out on a big table and left it ready for small children to come along to touch and enjoy our tactile reproduction of a forest scene.
