SI Los Gatos-Saratoga held a Sunday of Service (SOS) on March 6, 2005 at the Los Gatos Farmers Market.

Marin Gourmet Foods donated marinate, crackers and various spreads free and all sales proceeds were given to Promise Worldwide to assist with Tsunami relief in India. Our sales proceeds were $535.50 and this was donated to this relief cause.

Our club had fifteen members and guests attend the annual Big Basin Day on September 26, 2004. Soroptimist in conjunction with Sempervirens are helping to save the redwood forest from Boulder Creek area to the Pacific Ocean by buying trees as a fund raiser to buy up the land and preserve this area.

Every September the Soroptimist meet at the Big Basin Park to remember all the Soroptimist that have died during the year. Raisa Kocher, a charter member of our club, passed away in October 2003. Her daughter and member of our club, Mischel Postas, was present for the memorial service. Also pictured are Governor Jo Ann Vear, President Heather Durham, Julene Dee Pief (friend of Raisa's family) Dee Jamhour and B, J, Tucker members of the club.

Also, one our current members, Mischel Postas mother, Raisa Kocher, who left this world this past year, will be remembered through a tree dedication at Big Basin Friendship Day.

Mischel is receiving a certificate for the tree that will be dedicated in her mothers honor in this photograph. Raisa was one of the founding members of the Los Gatos-Saratoga club along with Kathy Alameda Durham, Dora Sapena and many others still actively involved in Soroptimist International.

To our surprise and overwhelming gratitude Jackie Hopkins wanted to start a “Raisa Kocher fund” with a check donated for $1000.00.
