Santa Clara High School "S" Club The "S" Club at Santa Clara High School was chartered in 1987 under the leadership of Santa Clara Soroptimist Jeanette Yetka and teacher Roseann Rasul. Santa Clara High's "S" Club quickly established itself as a leading "S" Club in the region, being amongst the first to admit boys as well as girls. Santa Clara High hosted "S" Club Conference in only its second year of existence at Asilomar in 1989. Santa Clara High has since gone on to host "S" Club Conference in 1996 and 1998 and co-hosted in 2000 and 2007. Santa Clara High's "S" Club was known throughout the region for its large membership. Santa Clara High "S" Clubbers were often amongst the winners of the Mary Ellen George Award. The "S" Club became defunct in 2000 but was restored in 2002 and has begun living up to its past history. The "S" Club works with Soroptimist International of Santa Clara during the annual Christmas Store and Casino Night events. It also undertakes independent projects such as volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank and Sacred Heart Community Services in San Jose, hosting holiday parties at Sobrato Family Living Center in Santa Clara, and tutoring at the Santa Clara Youth Activity Center.
