SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of CALAVERAS COUNTY TOUCHING LIVES PROGRAM

Touching Lives Program Supports Mother of Two Struggling with Multiple Scoliosis

Heidi Robertson, mother of two teenagers, gave an emotional testimony and the 2007 Festival of Trees fundraiser, thanking Soroptimists for the wheel chair ramp they donated through their Touching Lives program that allows her mobility and a way to get out of the house as she struggles with multiple scoliosis. Her testimony helped to raise hundreds of dollars in "Gift of Love" donations.

This is just one of the many projects of the Touching Lives Program. The Touching Lives Program will continue to benefit citizens within the Calaveras County community who have qualified medically related needs not covered by insurance or other means. Dollars from SICC's Festival of Trees annual fundraiser have assisted with nursing care, adapted homes for wheelchair use; covered costs for speech, hearing and vision therapy; adapted computer equipment for quadriplegic use; installed handrails; purchased a variety of wheelchairs, hearing aids, eyeglasses and more. Throughout the months of April and May, Soroptimist supports Calaveras County women with free Lipids Profile testing for cardio-vascular screening-—the number one killer of women in the United States.

The Touching Lives program honors Evelyn Lamb at the Festival of Trees Gala, who gave her testimony about how the Touching Lives program made a difference in her life.

Sadly, Evelyn Lamb passed away earlier this year. The Lamb family has returned her eyeglasses and hearing aides that Soroptimist donated to her in 2003, so that others might use them.

To learn more about the Touching Lives program, contact Soroptimist International of Calaveras County at P.O. Box 696, Angels Camp, CA 95222 or call (209) 736-1947.

Letters of Thanks

March 2005

Dear Carol and Members of Soroptimist International of Calaveras County,
I want you all to know how grateful I am for the financial assistance I am receiving from you for my nursing care. Your generosity and kindness shown to me is greatly appreciated. I hope some day I may return this wonderful gift so someone else may be helped.
Thank you again.
Sincerely,
(a Touching Lives Recipient)

Dear Carol and Soroptimist Calaveras County,
Thank you so much for granting our request for funds on behalf of one of our Angels Camp patients. It is certainly a relief to her to know that her infusions are covered for the next year.

Soroptimist International of Calaveras County’s Touching Lives Program is such a needed program. With the great expense of health care at this time, many health care needs go unmet because a patient lacks funds or adequate insurance. Thank you for the wonderful work you do for our community.

Sincerely yours,
Pat Cervelli, LCSW
