SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of OAKDALE S
CLUB ACTIVITY
On October 30, the Oakdale S Club had 30
students come dressed in costume to trick or treat non-perishables. They
collected over 800 cans and donated 400 of them to the Spirit of Oakdale
committee to give away on Thanksgiving Day at the community dinner. The
remaining 400 went to Community Sharing.
Other activities include:
- Babysitting every Thursday at the Family Support
Network
- Twenty-five students signed up to become Junior
Auxiliary members of Oak Valley Hospital. There is quite a rigorous
application process, but some are in the midst of completing this and
their orientation to become volunteers at the hospital.
- They will be making goodie bags on November
17 to distribute to people who must work on Thanksgiving. Crews are
sent out on Thanksgiving morning to distribute the bags to firemen,
police officers, hospital employees, store clerks, etc., that have to
work on this day to say thank you for serving our community.
- On November 6 they helped with the Oakdale
High Music Boosters Dinner/Dance and Auction.
This is a busy group of young people helping those in
need in our community. SI Oakdale is proud to sponsor and support them
in any way possible.
