SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of TWAIN HARTE Saturday of Service, 2005

Saturday, March 5th, was the day that Soroptimists around the world and in our own Tuolumne County picked for a special service project in their communities.

This year, Soroptimist of Twain Harte planned a St. Patrick's Day Party for the long-term care patients at Tuolumne General Hospital. The "S" Club, a Soroptimist sponsored organization at Summerville High School sent some of their members to entertain and visit with the folks at the care center.

Members brought cookies, punch and stuffed, cuddly animals for each patient. One of the Soroptimist, Barbara Bristow, a professional florist, brought each patient a gift of a fresh nosegay, each one in a special miniature flower holder.

Some members brought their dogs to provide comfort. Our pets can be so healing to someone who is ill or disabled, as they give unconditional love.

Saturday of Service is a world-wide event for participating Soroptimists clubs. Each club chooses a project that fits their town and local needs. Whether it is painting a senior's home, or refurbishing a local women's shelter, Soroptimists can be seen on this very special day of service wearing their red shirts That say. . ."Our hearts are in the right place. . . SOS!!
