SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL
of CERES
Soroptimist Saturday
of Service 2006
Soroptimist International
of Ceres members joined many other Soroptimist clubs throughout
the nation in the annual Saturday of Service on March 4th.
Saturday of Service is designed to allow Soroptimists to provide
service activities for their community.
This year, members assisted Valerie Peeler,
the librarian at Central Valley High School, code and catalog
books for student use. The process of assuring that books reach
the students as soon as possible is a complicated one. Books must
be inventoried, sorted, coded and organized by subject matter
and grade level before they are ready for students and teachers
to use in classrooms. SI Ceres members spent the day completing
this process.
Each year Soroptimist International of
Ceres has engaged in similar community-benefiting projects. These
have included assisting with the Redwood center for Women and
Children, the Daniel Whitmore Home and several other projects
related to Ceres schools. Members are enthusiastic about the efforts
because they provide long-term benefits to the Ceres community.
