SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of CERES
WINNER OF THE 2004-2005
CATHERINE DEAN OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD! Soroptimist International of Ceres began an on-going identifying project in September, 2003. Named SEW (Soroptimists Encouraging Women), the project has been designed to serve the Stanislaus Recovery Center which works with people dealing with addictions. We have now added Redwood Family Center, which assists women who are participating in the 12 step recovery program. Our Soroptimists Encouraging Women project has two goals:
Members of the Ceres Club make monthly presentations to the women at the Centers. Other club members will assist with refreshments, materials, and other needed assistance. Topics include:
Evaluation forms are given to the women in the audiences for their feedback. Follow up articles are incuded in our newsletters each month. In addition to the monthly workshops, Soroptimist International of Ceres gathers gently worn clothing once a month at club meeting to donate to the Clothing Closet at Stanislaus Recovery Center. This is a true Hands On service project and our club members are very excited to be a part of making a difference for these women. |
