SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of GUSTINE-NEWMAN FUNDRAISERS

The majority of funds raised each year are realized through the Annual Enchilada Dinner, the Annual Spaghetti Dinner, and the Newman Fall Festival Fashion Show. At some meetings, members voluntarily contribute cash and goods (through fun activities) adding to our treasury. We "Pass the Pig" each week giving members an opportunity to make a donation and share with the club something that is happening in their life or information of value to them.

Christmas House Tour

Our organization has sponsored a Christmas House Tour for eight years, 1997 to 2004. After taking a two-year break, the 2007 House Tour stimulated renewed interest and was a great success. We had two homes on tour in Gustine and three in Newman. The homes are decked out in full holiday splendor depicting the decorating style of the homeowner and offering a diverse spectrum of tastes. Proceeds from the tour are used for the Soroptimists scholarship fund. The club presents a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior form Gustine High and Orestimba High each year. It has been a very successful project.

Gustine's First Annual October Festa

This event, which took place on October 6th, was held in conjunction with Wolfsen's Meat & Sausage Co. Annual Sausage Tasting. This year the event became a community-wide attempt to stimulate interest and bring visitors to the area. Soroptimist was instrumental in the initial planning. We setup a booth and were very successful in selling our pastries. The event was a tremendous success and we're looking forward to next year!

Annual Enchilada Take-Out Dinner

This annual fundraising event was held on February 19th. Our hardworking members made over 1500 enchiladas which received glowing reviews.
