SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of LOS BANOS FUNDRAISERS

SI Los Banos’ most profitable fundraiser is our holiday See’s Candy sale ($6,000). It was more competitive this year due to several other organizations also selling See’s Candy. Fortunately, we have so many dedicated and local customers that believe in our wonderful organization, we were able to come fairly close to our fundraising goal.

Our second largest fundraiser is our Monday Night Football Drive-thru Tri-tip and Pasta Dinner ($3,000) in October. All of the members participate in both projects. The dinner requires more member teamwork and active participation the day of the event. It is amazing how smoothly and efficiently our group is able to serve between 500–600 people in a three-hour period.

For the past two years, we have hosted a Women’s Pheasant Hunt in Gustine that is sponsored by the State of California, Fish and Game Department. There are 25 hunters in the morning and 25 in the afternoon that come from throughout all of California. Our club provides hot coffee, donuts, and other refreshments as well as stimulating and lively conversations to keep everyone entertained and, of course, informed of what is a Soroptimist. As an added bonus, the landowner donates the proceeds to our club. We can earn up to $500 each year for this event. It is an excellent public relations activity.
