SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of LOS BANOS initiates The June Erreca Award

The June Erreca Award, honoring the heart of volunteering. Scholarship Award $500.00

Volunteering and the name June Erreca are synonymous. Giving through volunteering within her community and the world at large is her motto, and giving she has done!

As a charter member of Soroptimist International of Los Banos since 1962, June holds the honorable title of past Governor of the Sierra Pacific Region of California as well as holding office at Federation level.

June is widely respected throughout the Soroptimist organization for her dedication to the ideals for which all Soroptimist stand:

The Sincerity of Friendship
The Joy of Achievement
The Dignity of Service
The Integrity of Profession
The Love of Country

Throughout the years, June has been involved with numerous and varied nonprofit, charitable organizations. One such cause, "Care About People", established by June, was premised on critical and immediate needs of individuals, not being met in other community programs. Through June's dedication much needed funds, medical assistance, transportation and housing were donated to help alleviate the problems.

June also, through her visionary skills, recognizing a lack of quality medical care within the Los Banos community, went and sought Doctors and their families, asking them to consider relocation for the purpose of establishing their practice. Many, to this day, still live and work within the medical community.

Another area June is heavily involved in is the Milliken Museum and Historical Society, as both member and volunteer. June's widespread and much respected knowledge of local and surrounding area history has made her a highly requested source for education and preservation purposes. Aside from her countless volunteer hours, June, born and raised in Los Banos and married over 60 years, is one of the handful of local women who started her floral business over 50 years ago. June currently works along side her son on a daily basis and clients still rely on June's solid good sense of judgment for all occasions.

June Erreca has exemplified "The Heart of Volunteering", evidenced through her tireless will to challenge the communities needs by creating the necessary solutions. Because of her countless hours of dedication, June has been honored with numerous awards and accommodations at the local level such as "Volunteer of the Years", and "Citizen of the Year". June has also received other awards at county, state and federal levels, of which she is highly regarded by various political personalities. This award is proudly being presented by Soroptimist International of Los Banos in honor of June Erreca, a pioneering woman who's far reaching visions followed by her selfless volunteering deeds shall prevail for many generations to come.
