Date - Saturday, November 17, 2007 Soroptimist International of Hanford has a luncheon with entertainment, a gift for each guest in attendance, and of course, the decorated Christmas Trees and gifts. There are a minimum of 41trees ranging in size from 4 ft to 7 ft, ranging in value from $150 - $500. This event is always held the weekend before Thanksgiving and kicks off the holiday season. Ticket price is $30. The proceeds from the tickets cover all costs. The goal is to pre-sell tickets. Tickets of Opportunity are sold 20 for $5.00. Guests then place their Tickets of Opportunity beneath the Christmas Trees that they hope to win. The proceeds from the sale of the Tickets of Opportunity are used to fund the community projects of the Hanford Soroptimist Club. Preparation for next year's event begins immediately following the luncheon. Members contact local merchants and vendors requesting sponsorship of trees. We supply the artificial trees. If a vendor or merchant is not able to decorate a tree, they can donate X amount of dollars and our club members will decorate the tree and purchase gifts on their behalf. We also businesses that are financial sponsors. These contributions are used to defray the costs of things such as the facility we rent.
