SI Taft held their largest fundraiser ever about three years ago: A concert featuring the Smokin’ Armadillos, a popular country western band originating from Bakersfield. It raised more than $35,000. The fundraiser was held to raise money for the transportation needs for the critical care patients of Taft. Taft is 60 miles from Bakersfield, where the patients go for kidney dialysis and chemotherapy for cancer. We have since opened our thrift store called “The Tumbleweed.” It is staffed by Soroptimists and all proceeds are put into the fund for our dialysis and cancer patients. We have a continuous fund for this project. |
