SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of VISALIA
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
Soroptimist International of Visalia participates in
many community service projects. Here are some:
- Members of Soroptimist International of Visalia
participated in the Cancer Fun Run - Relay
for Life, which is a big project for us. Our theme this year was
“Give Cancer the Boot”. It was held September 28–29,
2002.
- Our club sponsors and staffs the Visalia Pro-Youth
Anti-Violence walk–run event, and we staffed the registration tables.
- The Club participates in the “Workplace
Campaign to End Domestic Violence” by distributing hot cards at
our places of business, at the hospital emergency room, mental health
and welfare department waiting rooms.
- We are currently working with Family Services,
which runs the Battered Women’s Shelter and the American Red Cross
to develop ongoing service projects that will provide for un-met needs
in the community and to help promote the Soroptimist image. We recently
bought cribs for the Battered Women's shelter and also held a shower
for them.
