SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of VISALIA Saturday of Service

Soroptimist International of Visalia supported the Saturday of Service on February 8th by taking on two projects.

Under the leadership of Lydia Gargan, Martha Heaton, Kathleen Dowling, Sara Pope and Dianne Sharples decorated the children's waiting room at the Goshen Healthy Start Clinic. They built a cabinet, put up a curtain, chalk boards and wall decorations, added a TV and several children's video's and toys and put down floor coverings to make a cheery room as they wait for health care or for their mothers who are taking health classes.

In Visalia, a group of fourteen, organized by Susan Barlow and Rosanne Vandenakker made major improvements to the Battered Women's . The outdoor crew of Susan, Carol Frate, Dianne Sharples, Dorothy Downing, Jody Gilman and Carla Elliott, planted several bushes, put in a small sprinkling system, added borders and bark and leveled several areas of the yard. Indoors, Rosanne led the charge of painters including Barbra Hood, Nancy Loliva, Laurie Hart, Sue Sa, Beth Rumery, Judy Lanford, Carlyn Lambert, and Darlene Loose. They painted five bedrooms in bright colors that put a new and cheerful face on the shelter. We plan to do more this year including curtains for the closets and window dressings for the bedrooms.

Members of Soroptimist International of Visalia, hard at work!
