GOVERNOR LAUREN OGBOURNE’S GOALS

Goals for the 2006-2008 Biennium:

To build upon last biennium in continuing to work on building a Renaissance Region with the theme of "The 3 R's . . . Revitalize, Retain and Re-Grow"

  • "Revitalize" our clubs through education and creation of new energy and ideas by utilizing the communication tools available to us to further the Soroptimist mission of "improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world"
  • "Retain" our members and clubs and value their importance since it is necessary to have a strong foundation to grow
  • "Re-Grow" Sierra Pacific Region with new members and new clubs

Program

  • To encourage each club to support the Soroptimist International of the Americas mission and programs of “improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world”.
  • Last year clubs in Sierra Pacific Region achieved 100% participation in the Women’s Opportunity Award for the first time in this Region and I hope that clubs will continue this same strong level participation.
  • To increase club participation in the Violet Richardson Award Program to achieve 100% .
  • To increase club participation in the Making A Difference for Women Award by continuing to educate and promote that somewhat new award program.
  • To increase club participation in the Soroptimist Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence though our newly appointed Region coordinator.
  • To increase club support for the SIA Program by developing new service projects and educating clubs to the availability of the SIA Grants for Women and Girls Program that are available.
  • To provide information, education and participation in International Programs and Projects, like Project Independence, the December 10th President's Appeal, etc. through our newly appointed Region coordinator.

Membership Development

  • To reverse the Region trend of overall membership loss.
  • To achieve a net gain in overall membership for the Region.
  • To encourage members and clubs to think about expansion and to re-grow our Region by chartering at least 3-4 new clubs.

Fund Raising

  • To achieve 100% club participation in the annual Club Campaign
  • To achieve 100% of club participation in Founders Pennies
  • To increase awareness and importance of fundraising in order to support the SIA Program not only through club donations, but also through the many opportunities for individual donation plans.

Public Awareness

  • To help clubs learn ideas and ways in which they can promote Soroptimist, their clubs, their projects and events.
  • To encourage partnerships with various media organizations, various social and government agencies and private business in order to help promote Soroptimist and its programs and clubs.
  • To develop a handbook to help clubs promote their events, projects, and clubs.
  • To achieve 100% of club participation in Saturday of Service by assigning the overseeing of club participation to the Public Awareness Team
