SOROPTIMIST EMAIL ACCOUNTS
Introduction
The Sierra Pacific Region has established
email accounts for each club, committee chairman and board member to ease
communication for Soroptimist members doing Soroptimist business and to
reduce printing and mailing costs. These accounts do not replace a person's
privately-owned account. In fact, all the generic accounts are automatically
forwarded to the user's private account.
What is a Generic Account?
A generic account is an account that is named for the club, office or
committee, not the individual who holds that position. For example, email
sent to the generic email address assigned to the governor is forwarded
to the region's current governor, and when her term has ended, all governor
email will be forwarded to her successor. Club mail is sent to the club
President and Treasurer. The salutation, and the content of the email
message of course, will help identify which officer the message is for,
but senders should know both president and treasurer are receiving the
same message and make it clear which is to take action on the message.
What is a Tech Link?
A Tech Link is a club member who serves as a liaison between the Region's
Tech Team and her club.
What is the Tech Team?
The Tech Team currently consists of the three members who serve as webmaster,
email administrator and upload manager. The Tech Team also creates Tech
Tips and emails them to clubs. The Tech Team's motto is "Learn By
Doing" and their mission is Teaching Every Club How Through Education
and Motivation. Any club member who has an interest in becoming a future
Tech Team member might consider volunteering to be her club's Tech Link.
What does the Webmaster do?
The Webmaster builds the website and maintains navigation and display
based on standards set forth by SIA. The current webmaster redesigned
the site early this biennium.
What does the Email Administrator
do?
The Email Administrator generates and maintains the generic email accounts
and updates forwarding information for the recipients. When email is rejected
it goes to the administrator.
What does the Upload Manager
do?
The Upload Manager receives updates and information from the clubs and
committee chairmen and uploads to the website. She removes dated material
and encourages clubs to send current information to keep their clubsite
pages fresh.
What is a clubsite?
The word "clubsite" was coined by the Tech Team to differentiate
between the region's website as a whole and each club's individual page.
All 44 clubs have a clubsite on the region's website.
What does it cost a club to
maintain its clubsite?
The cost of regional dues currently pays for all costs associated with
website and clubsite maintenance. In the event of cost increases, prior
approval will be sought in the usual manner.
